Illinois woman killed in rural MO wreck


KIDDER, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a woman died in a wreck over the weekend.

The Patrol says 65-year-old Leanne Mast and 67-year-old John Mast, both of Lansing, Illinois, were in a Toyota Venza on 36 Highway at Route D, two miles south of Kidder.

Authorities say at 11:43 a.m. Sunday, 25-year-old Cody Streu of Kidder, failed to yield while crossing 36 Highway in a a 2004 Chevy Silverado. The Chevy struck the Toyota, and both vehicles traveled off the roadway and overturned.

John Mast was transported by Life-Flight to Truman Medical Center with serious injuries. Leanne Mast was pronounced dead at Liberty Hospital nearly two hours later. Streu suffered minor injuries. The Masts were wearing a seatbelt, Streu was not.
